Therefore tuning is required as the most basic form of maintenance we would advise that your piano to be tuned at least twice a year to keep it in top notch condition. All pianos go out of tune whether it is frequently played on or never touched. The major factor would be the atmospheric changes, such as humidity, especially in tropical countries like Singapore. At times, the soundboard can swell up with moisture and pushes up on the bridge, stretching the strings and increasing the tension causing them to go out of tune. If the piano is left unattended in this form for an extended periods of time, it will eventually leads to expensive repairs as more time and effort are required to restore it back to the proper pitch.
